Ooh, a revamp of your space- or a complete renovation or new build- is so exciting! Selecting the tiles, the colours, the finishings, the furnishings, all the bits and pieces that make up a beautiful space is just such a fabulous process. Until it’s not. That wallpaper that looked incredible in the showroom looks awful against your flooring. Overwhelm, uncertainty and intimidation stomp all over that initial excitement and enthusiasm. That space that you have been dreaming about for such a long time is now something that makes you avert your eyes when you walk past. Sadly, that scenario is all too real. Happily, it’s easily preventable with the support of a fabulous designer in your corner with a secret weapon to bringing your vision to reality.

At My Beautiful Abode, our designers transform an initial vision into a beautiful, practical space that’s easy to live in and enjoy. Our goal is to make the lofty accessible, and like
many of our design colleagues, the process begins with a brief. However, where we differ from other design studios is that our briefing process has a focus on the emotional rather than simply mechanical.
A My Beautiful Abode brief confirms your budget and timings, both essential to the outcome of your project, but we take a holistic approach to ensuring that the brief and information we collect at the initial stages of a project clarifies what a client actually wants a space to be at the end of the project. Our briefing process helps people crystallise and articulate their vision.

For the most part, the briefing process is actually a joy for both client and designer. It’s a chance to pull together those Houzz ideabooks and Pinterest boards into something that will eventuate into the space you will live your life in. We’ve even had clients bring an old school scrapbook full of magazine pages, divided by room, which is an absolute delight! Other clients have less prescriptive ideas of what they’d like- in fact, we had one that started the process for the design of their entire house with a single floor tile that they loved.
Our role is to help our clients articulate their vision- and the more information and detail we can obtain from the client, the more closely aligned to that vision is the space we create. It’s very much a collaborative process, however, there’s an element of letting go and trusting in our experience and expertise. We absolutely love taking sparks of inspiration from our client briefing and transforming them into reality- your beautiful abode, your inviting sanctuary.
