The look book is an essential tool in our toolkit. Otherwise known as a room board or a mood board, it tells a story, visually, of what we’re trying to achieve together. It gives a sense of what the space could be.
We’ve all heard the expression that a picture tells a thousand words.
When it comes to imagining a room makeover, it takes practice to reimagine how a room will look. It’s all well and good to describe a space, but a look book shows you how the room can be transformed.
Our role as designer is to help you ‘see’ the new room before it is created, to communicate concepts that you’ve never imagined and to remove barriers to you making a decision. It’s to help you to see what does and does not work for you in a concept, to give us feedback and help us to refine the design to suit your style.
Once you have approved a look book, we then create a shopping list to keep track of the budget.
The shopping list may be made of items that you can purchase from retailers, or it can be more bespoke with pieces through our trade connections.
Here is a breakdown of our process.
Design meeting
To obtain a brief and your budget. We will talk about what you like and dislike, whether you are tortured by the thought of décor that features animals watching you from the walls or the baby poo colour of your primary school uniform! We measure the rooms (and lifts and openings to check that we can get that gorgeous new furniture into the room) and take photos to refer to and for the awesome before and after photos that everyone loves.
Look book
Pivotal in selecting the design and finishes this stage is about us communicating ideas to you and you giving feedback on what does and doesn’t work for you.

Shopping list
Keeping track of the budget. This document helps you to see where your money is being spent and to help you identify what you are happy to invest in for your home.
Samples and test driving
This stage it about checking colours and materials and if the furniture is the right comfort for you. A tactile experience to check in that the digital aesthetics work for you in real life.
