Have you ever watched one of those interior decorating shows with the formula of making over a house in a single episode? The culmination of each episode is the big reveal with the associated oohs, aahs, tears and sometimes sheer perplexity- white carpet in a kids’s rumpus room? When it comes to working with My Beautiful Abode ie the real deal, not manufactured reality, the makeover part of your experience is not going to happen in 50 minutes. We’re good, but we’re not television production company good! That said, we can manage your project so that the delivery of the new space is done for one beautiful moment…. Ta-da!
To be honest though, most clients don’t want to wait for everything to be ready at the same time and more often than not, we hand over our projects in stages.
The wait for the last couple of things to be ready can be excruciating and when you know most of your goodies are ready to go, most clients opt to have now rather than later like an early Christmas present. It’s easier to manage a new space that isn’t being lived in than for a reveal experience than a home that is occupied, so this process is not suitable for everyone.

However, when we are working to a date with our clients it means that you are able to manage your end too. For example, if you have a new sofa on the way and you plan on selling or donating your current piece, you can have notice to make the arrangements needed to prepare the room.
When we have a makeover day, we might ask you to leave the house for the day so you can experience the mystery of transformation and let us manage the elbow grease for the day.
But who is this for?
We’ve worked on tween room makeovers where they have had input at the initial stages of the project with talk about likes and dislikes and then one day the go off to school and when they come home their room has been transformed. Another type of client is when we’ve had someone downsizing from the family home to a smaller space, working with family to make the move as painless as we can for the emotional move. We’ve also worked with clients moving into their new home and for a bigger project like this, we might have the delivery of the project over a couple of days, but a “reveal” to our clients on the final day.
We can promise you there will be no blind folds or hidden cameras. Our aim is for you to enjoy the joy of experiencing the finished space.
